Η Συλλογή Κεραμικών της Έλλης Παπουνά

As part of the exhibition 'The amazing world of Minas Avramidis', the Museum presented to the public the collection of ceramics donated by Elli Papouna. The collection - consisting of about 300 ceramic ware items from various parts of Greece - was given to the Museum in the early 1990's. An initial inventory and partial photographic record of the collection had been made in 1984.

The collection, which Elli Papouna began to assemble in 1953, includes jugs and plates by famous traditional potters, such as Nikos Theodorou and Avraam Avramidis from Thessaloniki, Kourtzis from Mytilini, Chrysoyelos, Geronymakis and Dalamvolas from Crete, Stefanos Manteniotis from Thasos, Apostolidis, Atsonios, Podotas, Sklavainas and Kalogiros from Sifnos, Kontoroudas from Samos, Mellios, Laskaris, Kardiakos, Filippaios from Marousi, the Nikolaou family from Skyros, as well as items from Rhodes, Zakynthos, Florina, Messinia, Cyprus, Chios and other parts of Greece.
